My grandparents and uncles used to perform on Indian Isle for many years. I really enjoyed the visits to WI Dells when I was able to sit with my grandmother and do beadwork in the trading post watching the peacocks walk around freely. I was sad to see Fort Dells go but will always remember the days of Black Bart and the Sheriff running and shooting at each other. My kids would have loved it!

My parents took us kids to the fort in the early 60s. My favorite part was driving the old cars. It was a very magical place that allowed your imagination to sweep you away to the old west. Thank God we have it on film. Why do they tear down all the good places? I took my family to the fort in the late 80s and it had already been closed down! Luckily, many of the buildings were still there. Icould still make out where the track was for the old cars, the arena for the Indian ceremonies was still there and the haunted amusement ride was still there. I found a roll of admission tickets and still have them. Upon leaving I noticed signs all around the property stating "No trespassing " Whoops.

Great site, found this on the old tower from an article in the Milw Journal from June, 1966. Here is the link: http://news.google.com/newspapers?id=IC8aAAAAIBAJ&sjid=zycEAAAAIBAJ&pg=7376%2C429858

I went to Fort Dells with my famly from around 1968 to 1976. My favorite memories of the park are the Haunted House, The Sky Tower (First thing you would see coming into Wisc Dells from Highway 13) and Black Bart (Which made you want to be a Cowboy)

I have always look back with wonderful memories when my family were at Fort Dells almost every year when I was young (1970's - 1981). One of those year, Black Bart did kidnapp me, and took me on the train. several cowboys and marshall tried to safe me. This was one of my favorite active. Also I sure enjoyed visiting especially View Dells on the top (I forget the name), haunted house, rode on Stage wagon, and many more. I sure wish it never closed so I can share with my wife and daughter how much Fort Dells provide many fun to families. Many thanks for everything!!!
